Manuel Moura, 83, of Hudson, died Tuesday, Aug. 23rd at UMASS Memorial Healthcare, University Campus in Worcester. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Beatriz de Chaves Graca Moura of Hudson.
Born and raised in Santa Maria, the Azores in Portugal, son of the late Bernardino and Maria Jacinta (Bairos) Moura. He has resided in Hudson since 1974 and was employed by the Data General Co. for many years until his retirement. He was a member of Saint Michael's Parish in Hudson.
Manuel enjoyed spending the summer months at his house in Santa Maria where he was proud of his flower garden which he cared for and enjoyed. He also enjoyed cooking and spending the holidays with family and friends. He especially looked forward to Christmas when he would play the part of Santa Claus for his loving family. He was very proud of his family, his grandchildren and great grandchildren brought tremendous joy to him and they will remember him for his great sense of humor.
Besides his wife, he is survived by his children, Fatima Sousa, Mario Moura, Paulo Moura, Eduardo Moura, Carlos Moura, Joao Moura, Nelia Chaves, Margarida Bairos, Jose Manuel Moura, all of Hudson and was predeceased by his daughter Marta Moura at birth. He is also survived by his siblings, Jose Moura of Hudson, Maria Moura of Hudson, Joao Moura of Canada, Jose Maria Moura of Canada, Agostinho Moura of Canada, Ermelinda Chaves of Santa Maria, was predeceased by his brother Antonio Moura; survived by 21 grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren and many in-laws, nieces and nephews..
A funeral mass will be celebrated on Thursday, Aug. 25th at 9:00 a.m. in Saint Michael's Church, 21 Manning Street, Hudson. Burial will follow in Saint Michael's Cemetery, Hudson. Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, Aug. 24th from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Tighe-Hamilton Funeral Home, Inc. 50 Central Street, Hudson, MA 01749.
