Margaret (Johnston) Babcock, of Bolton, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family in her home March 21st. "Family" was Margaret's life. She was the beloved wife of Norman "Joe" Babcock with whom she was married for 53 years before his death on Dec. 28, 2009. Margaret leaves her daughter, Susan Therrien and her husband David of Berlin; her son, Norman Paul Babcock and his wife Colleen of Templeton and daughter Dawn Babcock and her friend Todd Stryker of Bolton. Nana leaves five grandchildren, Joshua and Whitney Therrien; Zachary, Ryan and Jacob Babcock. These grandchildren were the pride and joy of Margaret's life.
Margaret was born March 30, 1936, daughter of the late Thomas and Ruth (Powderly) Johnston and would have celebrated her 74th birthday on the 30th of this month. She leaves her sisters, Barbara Gill of Cape Cod, Betty Nelson and Bonnie Grinkis, both of Sterling. Margaret was predeceased by her brother, Thomas Johnston of Brandon, VT. The Johnston family moved to Bolton from Bedford in the 1950's and Margaret was a 1954 graduate of Hudson High School. Margaret also leaves her many loved nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.
No one felt more pride in her job as Margaret. She spent many years operating a school bus for the Nashoba School District were she enjoyed transporting many generations of local children to school. Mrs. Babcock made sure holiday gifts were hand made for kindergartners and was always in full costume for Halloween.
A funeral service will be celebrated on Thursday March 25th at 10:30 a.m. at Trinity Congregational Church, 14 Wattaquadock Hill Road, Bolton, MA. Burial will follow in South Cemetery, Bolton. Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, March 24th from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the: Tighe-Hamilton Funeral Home, Inc. 50 Central Street, Hudson, MA 01749.
