Maria F. (Chaves) Andrade, 76 of Hudson, passed away peacefully surrounded by her adoring family, on Sunday, January 7, 2018, at Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston, after a period of declining health. She is reunited in heaven with her husband Jose R. Andrade, who predeceased her in 2014.
Maria was born and raised in Santa Maria, Azores, Portugal, the daughter of the late Manuel Chaves and Antonia Chaves Freitas. After she finished her schooling, she married the love of her life Jose and together they immigrated to Hudson in 1968, where they began their family and still currently resided. Maria brought her strong work ethic and family values with her from the old country. She worked for several factories as an assembler before she eventually retired. She also embraced her new land and enrolled in classes, so she could read and write in English, which she was very proud of.
Maria will be most missed for her delicious meals and sweet breads. She was a true Matriarch in her family and an amazing mother and grandmother. One of Maria’s greatest enjoyments in life was her times camping with her family in the summer at Bay View Camp Grounds in Bourne, MA. Maria will be dearly missed by all her friends and family.
Maria is survived by her three sons, James F. Andrade and his wife Michelle of Sterling, Michael F. Andrade and his wife Michelle of Hudson and Kevin F. Andrade and his wife Dianaleigh of Hudson; a brother, Antonio Chaves and five grandchildren, Connor Madden, Cassia Andrade, Camryn Andrade, Kylie Andrade and Kendall Andrade. In addition to her husband Jose R. Andrade and her parents, Maria was also predeceased by her brother, Jose Chaves.
Relatives and friends are invited to a period of calling hours from 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm on Wednesday, January 10, 2018, at TIGHE HAMILTON REGIONAL FUNERAL HOME, 50 Central St., Hudson, MA. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated the following day at 9:00 am on Thursday, January 11, 2018, at Saint Michael Parish, 21 Manning St., Hudson, MA; followed by a procession to Saint Michael Cemetery in Hudson for interment.
