Maria P. (Monteiro) Sousa, 83, of Hudson, died Wednesday, July 2 at Marlborough Hills Healthcare Center.
She was predeceased by her husband of 48 years, Antonio M. Sousa who died in Oct. of 2002.
She was born and raised in Santa Maria the Azores, daughter of the late Antonio Puim and Antonia Jacinta (Chaves) Monteiro. Maria has resided in Hudson the past 42 years since moving from Santa Maria. She worked for many years as a machine operator for the New England Tape Co. of Hudson until retiring. She was a member of Saint Michael's Parish in Hudson and enjoyed arts and crafts as a hobby.
She is survived by her 3 children, Maria C. Melo, Julia S. Agostinho and Jose A. Sousa; 2 sisters, Maria Andrade and Filomena Chaves, all of Hudson; 8 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
A funeral mass will be celebrated Monday, July 7, at 9:00 a.m. in Saint Michael's Church, 21 Manning St. Hudson. Burial will follow in Saint Michael's Cemetery, Hudson. Calling hours will be held Sunday, July 6 from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Tighe-Hamilton Funeral Home, Inc. 50 Central St. Hudson, MA 01749.
