Maria Celeste Rio, 74, of Hudson, MA, died Wednesday, July 5, 2006 at Marlboro Hills Nursing Home in Marlboro.
She was the wife of the late John P. Rio who died in 1980.
She was born in Portugal, daughter of the late Aurelio and Julia Silva.
She married John Rio in 1957 in Fatima and shortly there after made her home with her husband in Hudson. They were long time residents in Hudson and well known in the Portuguese community. She was a member of the Portuguese Continental Union, the Holy Ghost Society, Saint Michael Parish of Hudson Ladies of Solidarity and the Hudson Senior Center.
Maria was first and foremost a housewife and companion to John Rio in his later years. Later in life she was employed by Thomas Taylor and Sons of Hudson.
She is survived by her daughter; Cecilia and grandson; Malcolm.

50 Central St. Hudson, MA 01749 Monday, July 10, 2006 with a funeral mass at 9:00 a.m. in Saint Michaels Church 21 Manning street Hudson MA. Calling hours will be Sunday, July 9, from 5:00 to 8:00 P.M. in the funeral home. Burial will be in Saint Michael'sCemetery, Hudson.
