Marie G. (Gorman) McGourty, 90, of Natick, formerly of Hudson, died Sunday, Aug. 9th at Bolton Manor Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Marlboro. She was the wife of the late Donald J. McGourty who died in 1973.
Born and raised in Marlboro, daughter of the late John E. and Margaret M. (Coffey) Gorman, she was a graduate of Marlboro H.S. class of 1936 and also served as class secretary. She was a 1938 graduate of Becker Jr. College in Worcester. She resided in Hudson for many years and has resided in Natick the past 25 years. Marie was employed by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, Department of Public Assistance for 20 years, retiring in 1979. She was a member of the former Christ the King Parish of Hudson and was currently a member of Immaculate Conception Parish in Marlboro. She was a member of the Catholic Daughter's Assoc. in Hudson and member of the Friends of the Framingham Public Library.
She is survived by her son, Charles P. McGourty and his wife Sharon of Hudson and her two step-grandchildren, Brian and Amanda Scannell of Hudson.
A funeral mass will be celebrated on Thursday, Aug. 13th at 9:00 a.m. in the Immaculate Conception Church, 11 Prospect Street, Marlboro. Burial will follow in Saint Michael's Cemetery, Hudson. Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, Aug. 12th, from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Tighe-Hamilton Funeral Home, Inc. 50 Central St. Hudson, MA 01749.
