Marvin C. "Moe" Tarves, 77, of Berlin, former long time resident of Hudson, died Saturday, April 28th at UMASS Memorial Healthcare, University Campus in Worcester. He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Mary L. (Fournier) Tarves of Berlin.
Marvin was born in New York City, NY, son of the late Clarence and Mariam (Witz) Tarves. He moved to Hudson where he resided most of his life until moving to Berlin in 1991. As a farmer his whole life, he took great pride in the raising and caring for his many farm animals and operating his roadside stand. He owned and operated Natures Best Farm Stand in Berlin for many years. He was a member of Saint Michael's Parish in Hudson.
Besides his wife, he is survived by his 14 children, Paul Tarves and his wife Jackie of Hudson, Michael Tarves and his wife Jo Ann of Barre, John Tarves of Berlin, William Tarves of New Mexico, Patrick Tarves and his wife Cheryl of Hudson, Daniel and Peter Tarves, both of Berlin, Andrew Tarves and his wife Geraldine of Clinton, Marvin Tarves of Berlin, Jo Ann Auger and her husband Gerard of Marlboro, Maryanne Lynch and her husband Michael of Southboro, Rose LeClair and her husband John of Northboro, Linda Davis and her husband James of Hudson and Christine Collins and her husband Ralph of Berlin. He is also survived by his two brothers, Philip and John Tarves, both of Texas; 28 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his first wife Carrolle (Wyman) Tarves in 1969 and was the brother of the late Rozalin Reifowitz and Phyliss White.
A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, May 2nd at 10:00 a.m. in the Tighe-Hamilton Funeral Home, Inc. 50 Central Street, Hudson, MA 01749. Burial will follow in North Cemetery, Berlin. Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, May 1st from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
