Mary Jo (Medeiros) Chaves, 67, of Hudson, died Wednesday, Dec. 7th at her residence surrounded by her loving family. She is survived by her husband of 39 years, Jose F. Chaves of Hudson.
Mary Jo was born in St. Michael, the Azores in Portugal, daughter of the late Jose Caetano and Ana V. (da Silva) Medeiros. She has resided in Hudson for the past 40 years after moving from St. Michael. She was employed as an inspector for Data General Corp. in Westboro for many years and later was employed by A.C.T. Co. of Hudson until her retirement. She was a member of Saint Michael's Parish in Hudson and a member of the Holy Ghost Society of St. Michael, the Azores.
Besides her husband, she is survived by her daughter, Anna (Chaves) McDonald and her husband Sean of Newton; her siblings, Jose Medeiros of Portugal, R. Antonio Medeiros of New Bedford, Eduarda Pereira of Canada, Fernando and Luis Medeiros, both of Portugal, Hermano Medeiros of New Bedford and Estrela Borges of Hudson. She is also survived by her three grandchildren, Elle, Tess and Lila McDonald and many nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Conceicao Medeiros.
A funeral mass will be celebrated on Monday, Dec. 12th at 9:00 a.m. in Saint Michael's Church, 21 Manning Street, Hudson. Burial will follow in Saint Michael's Cemetery, Hudson. Calling hours will be held on Sunday, Dec. 11th from 3:00 to 6:00 p.m. at the Tighe-Hamilton Funeral Home, Inc. 50 Central Street, Hudson, MA 01749
