Mary V. (Kazansky) Downs, 95, of Hudson, formerly of Whitman, died on Monday, Nov. 12th at St. Patrick's Manor in Framingham. She was the beloved wife of the late Edward A. Downs who died in 1989.
Mary was born in Boston, daughter of the late Joseph and Anna (Surville) Kazansky. She was raised in Dedham and was a long time resident of Whitman before moving to Hudson in 1988. Besides caring for her home and family, Mary spent time as an operator with New England Telephone and Telegraph. She was a member of Saint Michael's Parish in Hudson.
She is survived by her daughter, Kathleen Schoolcraft and her husband Stanley W. Schoolcraft, III of Hampton, GA; her two grandchildren, Merideth Schoolcraft of Hampton, GA, Lisa Grady and her husband Brian of McDonough, GA; her two great grandchildren, Mikayla and Alexis and her niece, Anne McLaughline of Lowell. She was the sister of the late Anna Lepon of Lowell and Lillie Brown of Hudson.
Family and friends may attend a calling hours on Thursday, Nov. 15th from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. at the Tighe-Hamilton Funeral Home, Inc. 50 Central Street, Hudson, MA 01749 followed by a service and celebration of Mary's life on Thursday, Nov. 15th at 11:30 a.m. in the funeral home. Burial will follow in Saint Michael's Cemetery, Hudson.
