Hudson, MA
Mary W. (Finnerty) Leary, 95, longtime resident of Hudson, MA, passed away surrounded by her loving daughters on Monday, May 9, 2022 at her residence. She was predeceased by her husband of 36 years, Lawrence A. Leary in 1987.
Mary was born and raised in Roxbury (Boston), MA, daughter of the late Patrick and Delia (Kelly) Finnerty. She attended Our Lady of Perpetual Help grammar school and was a graduate of Mission H.S. in Boston. She settled in Hudson with her husband Lawrence in 1960 raising their family and caring for their home. She was grateful for those years spent with Larry; the love of her life. She spent 25 years employed as a payroll specialist at Brandeis University in Waltham until retiring in 1993.
Mary leaves her 3 daughters, Kathleen Alexander of Hudson, MA, wife of the late Robert Alexander, Rosemary Franciose of Boylston, MA and Daniel Franciose of Marlboro, MA, Maureen LeDuc and husband Kenneth of Boylston, MA. She was predeceased by her daughter Carol Radford and survived by Carol’s husband Robert Radford of New Hampshire. She is also survived by her sister, Anne Marie Silvasy and husband Jack of Canton, MA; her 9 grandchildren; Carol Mathewson and her husband David, Robert Radford Jr. and his wife Erica, Stephanie Franciose, Matthew Franciose, Nicole Carville and her husband Noah, Patrick Radford and 2 great grandchildren; Christopher and Noah Mathewson; many nieces and nephews along with other relatives and close friends. She was predeceased by her siblings Rev. Joseph G. Finnerty, Teresa McGovern and Helen Donahue.
Spending time with family and friends was a big part of Mary’s retirement years. She loved her “Tea Time” and raised her girls to enjoy it too. She had so much fun searching for new tea houses. She was a passionate Mystery Book reader and if she had to pick her career to do over she would have chosen to be a Librarian. She loved to share and discuss her joy of reading and always made sure her Grandchildren had a book to read. She looked forward to her yearly family vacations to the Cape and fulfilled her dream of visiting Ireland, her parents’ birthplace. She would end each day by calling and saying “Goodnight, I Love you and God Bless”, making sure that all were safe.
She was a member of Saint Michael’s Parish in Hudson. She loved to attend daily Mass and when she was unable to do that, she was thankful for Catholic TV.
