Mary (Fundoukos) Thomaris, 95, of Boca Raton, Florida, passed away at Regents Park Nursing Home, in Boca Raton, Florida, on October 25th. She was predeceased by her husband, Leonard Thomaris, who died in 2008 after 62 years of marriage. She is survived by her two children, William Thomaris of Boca Raton and Celeste Moschos and her wonderful son-in law, Demitrios Moschos of Worcester, Massachusetts. She leaves two grandchildren Kristin Moschos Swon and her husband Jerry Swon, and Thomas Moschos and his wife, Erin Hickey Moschos. She also was blessed with four great-grandchildren: Abigail and Elizabeth Swon and Brooksley and William Moschos. She leaves two sisters Despina Pappas and Athena Curley. Her brother Emmanuel Fundoukos died at 46 years old leaving her sister-in law Maria Vamvas.
Mary was born in Akron, Ohio the daughter of Theodore and Harelka Fundoukos. She graduated from Potsdam State University magna cum laude. Mary volunteered many years in various Potsdam NY. Organizations. She ran the Potsdam Hospital gift shop, and she was a Girl Scout and Boy Scout leader. In her later years she and her husband moved to Boca Raton, and she was active in the Ladies Philoptochos Society and the senior group at St. Mark's Church in Boca Raton. She was a member of the Tam O’Shanter Country Club in Pompano Beach.
The family wishes to extend their gratitude to the nurses and staff at Regents Park during her last 15 months.
Funeral services will be held at St. Spyridon Cathedral, 102 Russell Street at 11 AM on Wednesday, November 3, 2021. A calling hour will be from 10 AM until 11 AM at the Cathedral.
