Melinda (Vaughan) McClure

Melinda Louise (Vaughan) McClure, 70, of Bolton, MA, passed away peacefully at home, on Friday, April 10, 2020, with her beloved husband, Kenneth L. McClure by her side, after a courageous battle with cancer.

Melinda was born in Natick, MA, on December 19, 1949, a daughter of the late Ralph and Janet (Chavelier) Vaughan. She was raised in Harvard, Ma, where she attended Bromfield Harvard High School and met the love of her life Kenneth L. McClure. They both graduated together in the class of 1967 and soon after were married, embarking on a 47-year journey of commitment and love. She went on to earn her teaching degree and spent 7 years living in Long Island with her husband and teaching physical. They later settled in Bolton in 1978 and she accepted a position teaching Phys Ed at the Junior High School in Acton and Boxborough, where she worked for many years before eventually retiring.

During her long tenure at Acton Boxborough, Melinda was very active in the sports programs. She coached Field Hockey and also founded and coached the Lacrosse team. Melinda’s dedication and hard work earned her an induction into the Acton/Boxborough Hall of Fame as a Coach. In addition to sports, Melinda’s other love in life was animals, especially her horses. She was an avid equestrian and loved caring for the many horses that she kept and raised at her home.

In addition to her beloved husband Kenneth L. McClure, Melinda is also survived by her brother Lawrence Vaughan and her sister-in-law Gail of Acton. She was predeceased by her brother Stephen Vaughan.

All services will be held privately for Melinda. Tighe Hamilton Regional Funeral Home is honored to be assisting with the arrangements.
