Michael J. Ryan, 59, of Marlboro, died unexpectedly at Marlboro Hospital on Monday, March 21st. He leaves his wife of 34 years, Debra M. (Stanechewski) Ryan of Marlboro.
Born and raised in Lockport, NY, son of the late Thomas and Jane (Cunningham) Ryan, Michael attended local schools and was a graduate of New Fane Central High School. He later received his Associate's Degree in Electronics from Alfred Technical College in New York. He has resided in Marlboro since 1974 and was a member of the Marlboro Police Dept. from 1979 to 2006 when he retired from the force, prior to that he was a Reserve Police Officer in Hudson.
Michael enjoyed his spare time as an avid Ham Operator since he was a teenager, he was also well known in the "Borough's as a talented Bag Piper. He participated in many local events along with his fellow members of the Borough's Fire Brigade, an organization of local bag pipers.
Besides his wife, he is survived by his two brothers, Thomas Ryan Jr. of Lockport, New York and Patrick Ryan of Saratoga, New York. He is also survived by his many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and many friends
A funeral mass will be celebrated on Friday, March 25th at 11:00 a.m. in Saint Joseph's the Good Provider Church, 52 West Street, (Rt. 62), Berlin, MA. Burial will follow in Saint Michael's Cemetery, Hudson. Calling hours will be held on Thursday, March 24th from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Tighe-Hamilton Funeral Home, Inc. 50 Central Street, Hudson, MA 01749.
