Hudson, MA
Mildred I. (Queen) Mendes, 97, of Hudson, died on Thursday, May 30th at the home of her son in Cumming, GA. She was the loving wife of the late Manuel A. Mendes for 49 years until his death in 1994.
Mildred was born and raised in Hudson, daughter of the late Joseph and Irene (Viera) Queen. She attended local schools and was a graduate of Hudson High School. Mildred took great pride in the raising of her family in Hudson and enjoyed reading and crocheting in her spare time. She resided in Hudson most of her life but cherished the time she spent with her son Wilfred in Cumming, GA after the passing of her husband. She truly enjoyed the time she shared with her grandchildren and great grandchildren while in Georgia. She was a member of Saint Michael's Parish in Hudson and member of the Holy Ghost Society.
She is survived by her son Wilfred Mendes and his wife Kathleen of Cumming, GA and was predeceased by her son Edward Mendes in 1990. She is also survived by her three grandchildren, Christopher, Jeremy and Sean Mendes of Cumming, GA and her two great grandchildren, Jade and Anthony Mendes.
A funeral mass will be celebrated on Saturday, June 8th at 9:00 a.m. in Saint Michael's Church, 21 Manning Street, Hudson. Burial will follow in Forestvale Cemetery, Hudson. A calling hour will be held prior to the mass on Saturday, June 8th from 8:00 to 8:45 a.m. at the Tighe-Hamilton Funeral Home, Inc. 50 Central Street, Hudson, MA 01749
