Stow, MA
Hochella, Norman J., 83, of Stow, MA, formerly of Medway, MA and originally from Hazelton, PA, passed away on February 3, 2014 from Parkinson's disease related complications. Norman was a long-time member of the American Chemical Society, American Institute of Chemists, Sigma Xi and Chairman of the Board of the Wellesley Symphony Orchestra. He was passionate about preserving American Chestnut trees and colonial apple varieties. He loved beekeeping, gardening, growing orchids and he played the tuba for over 30 years in the Southeastern Massachusetts Community Concert Band and the Wellesley Symphony Orchestra.
He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Virginia W. Hochella, daughter Mary V. Hochella, son Micheal N. J. Hochella, and grandchildren Harper M. and Elijah R. Libby, and Harmon M. and Hazel C. Hochella. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to:
