Patricia M. (Donovan) Carney, 93, of Hudson, formerly of Framingham, died on Friday, April 18th surrounded by her loving family at the Coleman House in Northboro. She was predeceased by her husband of 59 years, Thomas F. Carney in 2007.
Patricia was born and raised in Hudson, daughter of the late Francis J. and Ida M. (Ethier) Donovan. She attended local schools and was a graduate of Saint Michael's Academy in Hudson. She later received her Nursing Degree from Saint Elizabeth's School of Nursing in Boston. She was a veteran of WWII, serving in the Army Nursing Core as a 2nd Lieutenant until being honorably discharged in 1946. She was employed as an Industrial Nurse at LaPointe's Machine Tool and Die Co. of Hudson and later spent 20 years as a Registered Nurse with Women's Specialist of Framingham until her retirement in 1984. Following retirement, Patricia and Thomas spent the next 20 years in Boynton Beach, FL.
Patricia leaves her three daughters, Jane FitzPatrick and her husband Thomas of Northboro, Patricia Moore and her husband John of Dennisport and Mary Healey and her husband Joseph of Oviedo, FL. She is also survived by her brother, John P. "Doc" Donovan of Hudson; her six loving grandchildren, Kevin and Brian Moore, Michael FitzPatrick, Kate Passarelli, Ryan Healey, Erin Sansbury; her 10 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Philip J. Donovan and the late Francis J. Donovan Jr. who was killed in WWII.
Family and friends may attend a calling hour on Wednesday, April 23rd from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. at the Tighe-Hamilton Funeral Home, Inc. 50 Central Street, Hudson, MA 01749 followed by a funeral mass to be held at 10:00 a.m. in St. Rose of Lima Church, 244 West Main Street, Northboro. Burial services will be held privately in Bourne Veterans' National Cemetery, Bourne, MA.
