Hudson, MA
Peter Michael Dhionis, 88, of Hudson, died on Thursday, March 17th at the home of his son in Marblehead surrounded by his loving family. He was the beloved husband of the late Frances M. (Renzi) Dhionis.
Peter immigrated to this country from his native Albania as a small boy and lived out his life in Hudson. He was a retired employee of 3M Company and a WW II Army Veteran. Peter landed at Normandy Beach and defended his country through France, Belgium and Germany. He bravely fought in the Battle of Hurtgen Forest as an infantry soldier in the Big Red 1 Division. Peter enjoyed meeting his friends for coffee at McDonald's, listening to music, playing cards and spending time with his loving family; especially the children.
He was the devoted father of Joanne S. Bonin and her husband Walter of Marlboro, and George P. Dhionis & his wife Christine of Marblehead. Grandfather of Danyelle, Keesa, Julie and MaryEllen. Great-Grandfather of Nicole, Jacqueline, Francesca, AnnaClare, Ellie, Aiden and Owen. He is also survived by his dear Albanian cousins and many nieces and nephews.
A funeral mass will be celebrated on Monday, March 21st at 10:00 a.m. in Saint Mary's Assumption Orthodox Church, 535 Salisbury Street, Worcester. Burial will follow in Forestvale Cemetery, Hudson. Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend visitation on Sunday, March 20th from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. with a Trisagion Service conducted by Fr. Timothy Cremeens at 3:00 pm Sunday at the Tighe-Hamilton Funeral Home, Inc. 50 Central Street, (RT. 62, exit 26 off RT. 495) Hudson, MA 01749.
