Phyllis M. Cushman, 81, of Hudson, died on Wednesday, May 28th at Beaumont Rehabilitation and Skilled Nursing Center in Northboro. She is survived by her husband of 61 years, Leonard G. Cushman of Hudson.
Phyllis was born in Boston and raised in Cambridge. She has been a resident of Hudson for the past 50 years where she took great pride in the care of her home and raising her children along with her husband Leonard. Phyllis believed in caring and giving to the community, whether it was caring for children or helping a neighbor. Together with her husband, she was involved with Boy Scouts for over 40 years. They created a Cub Scout Camp program in Bolton and ran it for 4 summers. She taught arts and crafts at the Youth Center, as well as, the Hudson Boy's and Girl's Club. She was awarded the "Silver Beaver" for her dedication and service to local youths and Phyllis and Leonard where the proud recipient of the annual R.F. Wood Memorial Award in 2007. She will be greatly missed by her family and all who knew her.
Besides her husband, she is survived by her daughter, Linda Raymond of New Hampshire; her son, Charles Cushman of South Carolina; her daughter, Kathryn Cushman of Maine and her son, Philip Cushman of Oregon. She also leaves he four loving grandchildren, Amy and Brian DeCiero of Massachusetts and Garrett and Alex Cushman of Tennessee.
Family and friends may attend a calling hour on Saturday, May 31st from 2:00 to 3:00 p.m. at the Tighe-Hamilton Funeral Home, Inc. 50 Central Street, Hudson, Mass. Followed by a funeral service and celebration of Phyllis' life on Saturday, May 31st at 3:00 p.m. in the funeral home. Burial services will be held privately at a later date in Forestvale Cemetery, Hudson.
