Ralph H. Crowley Sr. 78, of Wellington, Florida, formerly of Hudson, Mass died peacefully while listening to his favorite music at his home on Tuesday April 13, 2010. He was born January 24, 1932 in Newton, Mass. to the late Mona (Halloran) Crowley and the late Albert F. Crowley, Sr. Mr. Crowley graduated from Newton High School in 1950 where he met the love of his life and wife of 51 years, the late Theresa M. (Salvucci) Crowley.
A decorated Korean War veteran, Mr. Crowley was a member of the 501st Communications Reconnaissance Group of the U.S. Army. After leaving active duty, he attended Bentley School of Accounting which began his successful career in leadership at companies such as Stowe-Woodward, Foster Grant, American Hoechst and U.S. Sugar .
Moving to Hudson in 1962 with his wife and five children, he embarked on a path of service to his church and community. Mr. Crowley was a member of St. Michael's Parish Council, the Hudson Boards of Assessors and Selectman, serving as its chairman. He was also active in the Democratic Town Committee and participated in many local, state, and national campaigns.
Mr. Crowley was also a member of the BPOE and the Knights of Columbus. He was an avid golfer and a dog lover. Known for his keen sense of humor and story-telling abilities (some of them true), Mr. Crowley enlivened every room he entered.
He is survived by his daughters Janet Crowley of Royal Palm Beach Fla., Nancy Iacobucci and her husband John of Hudson, Maureen Heil and her husband Bill of Carver, and his son Ralph, Jr., and his wife Cathie of Leominster. He was predeceased by his daughter Diana Stafford. He is also survived by his sister Mona Zajac of Franklin, was the brother of the late Major Albert Crowley, Jr, and leaves his dear friend Penny Pinder of Wellington, Fla. Mr. Crowley was the proud "Grampy" of 10 grandchildren who will sorely miss his wit and wisdom.
A funeral mass will be held on Saturday, April 17th at 10:45 a.m. in Saint Michael's Church, 21 Manning Street, Hudson. Burial with Military Honors will follow in Saint Michael's Cemetery, Hudson.
