Raymond Joseph Garcia, 85, of Hudson, died on Saturday, April 16th at New Horizons in Marlborough. He was the husband of the late Lorraine (Belanger) Garcia who died in 2000.

Raymond was born and raised in Hudson, son of the late Raymond and Sophie (Smatanko) Garcia. He attended local school and was a 1948 graduate of Hudson High School. He owned and operated Raymond Engineering Land Surveying Company for over 35 years until retiring in 1996. He was a retired Captain of the Massachusetts National Guard; member of the Reserve Officers Assoc. for 33 years; life member of the Hudson Elks and member of the Hudson Eagles.

Raymond enjoyed tinkering around his home in his spare time. In his younger years he enjoyed flying planes as a recreation. He looked forward to spending time at his campsite but most of all he cherished being with his family especially later with his grandchildren and great grandchildren.

He is survived by children Sandra Newman of E. Douglas, Paula Genovese of Concord, NH; Linda Freeman of Holden; Sheila McCarthy of California and Lisa Sewall and husband Jeremy of Wellesley. He is also survived by his sister Helen Lanney and her husband Ken of Lancaster; his brother Frank Garcia and his wife Cecile of W. Yarmouth; his eleven grandchildren; two great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late William Garcia of Hudson.

Family and friends may attend calling hours Thursday April 21st from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Tighe-Hamilton Funeral Home, Inc. 50 Central St. Hudson, MA 01749 (www.tighehamilton.com). A celebration of Raymond's life will be held on Friday April 22nd at 11:00 a.m in the funeral home. Burial will follow in Forestvale Cemetery.
