Rena M. Faria of Hudson, MA, passed away on Wednesday, September 15th, at Beaumont Skilled Nursing Facility in Northborough, MA, with family by her side. She is reunited with her beloved husband of 60 years Robert E. Faria, who preceded her in 2009.
Rena was born in Marlborough on August 22, 1927 and raised in Hudson, MA since the age of 3, one of three children of the late Milo and Doris (Chamberlain) Casaceli, formerly of Cottage Street. She graduated from Hudson High School in 1945 and then from Burdett College in Boston in 1947, later marrying childhood sweetheart Robert (Bob) Faria in 1948. Together, they settled in Hudson, where they successfully owned and operated the Mobil Gas Station on Washington Street for 20 years and later Shoppers Liquor Mart. She worked long days and late into the evenings caring for their home and raising their four sons, while also taking care of the administrative and billing work for the family business.
As a lifelong Catholic, Rena was a longtime member of Christ the King Church and Saint Michael’s Parish in Hudson. Rena was the Church organist and active member of the choir for many years and a longtime active member of the Sodality of our Lady of the former Christ the King Parish. Rena was a member of the Hudson Senior Center, the Emblem Club, and since 1955 a member of the neighborhood “Happy Do-Little Club”. For 30 years she volunteered as a Poll Worker for elections. In addition to working at the Sears order store on the main street in Hudson, Rena worked for the Lance Corporation for many years. For 12 years Rena and her husband Bob enjoyed winters in Sarasota Florida and prior to that the family enjoyed summers at their Lake Boon Cottage. Rena was inexhaustible in her creativity playing organ, oil and water painting, creating poems as well as enjoying countless crafts and other artistic creations.
Rena is survived by her four children, Paul Faria and his wife Kathryn of Acton MA, Robert Faria Jr. of The Villages, FL, Donald Faria and his wife Robin of San Jose CA, and James Faria and his wife Laura of Morganton, NC; 6 grandchildren, Lisa Faria, Peter Faria, Christopher Faria, Patrick Faria, Thomas Faria, and Emily Faria; 2 great grandchildren Samantha Brady, and Ryan Brady, and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, Robert E. Faria, she is also preceded by her sister, Doris Casaceli, and brother, Frank M. Casaceli.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9am on Saturday, September 25. 2021, at Saint Michael Parish, 21 Manning St. Hudson, MA; followed by a procession to Forest Vale Cemetery for Committal Services.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Diabetes Association and United Cerebral Palsy.
