Rene F. "Ray" Doucette, 65, of Stow, former long time resident of Hudson, died unexpectedly on Sunday, April 14th at Emerson Hospital in Concord.
Ray was born in Waltham, son of the late Rene C. and Frances A. (Torri) Doucette. He was raised in Watertown where he attended local schools and was a graduate of Newton Technical High School. He was employed by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, Dept. of Forestry and Recreation as a dispatcher for many years until his retirement in 2012. He was a call firefighter with the town of Stow and was an EMT Instructor Coordinator at Northeastern University.
He is survived by his children, Rene Doucette Jr. of Ayer, Carol Glynn of Shrewsbury, David Doucette of Hudson, Kelly Grimes of New Jersey and Kimberli Nelson of Stow. He is also survived by his 10 loving grandchildren and his sister, Judith Conrad of Maine.
Ray was very well known as "DJ Ray" by all who experienced and performed in his many karaoke events. He brought his talents and music to many events including weddings, birthdays and other special events, his karaoke performances where a weekly event at Joy Asia in Marlboro. In his spare time he enjoyed his hobby as a ham radio operator and also looked forward to his trips to the White Mountains of New Hampshire panning for gold.
A memorial service and celebration of Ray's life will be held on Saturday, April 20th at 4:00 p.m. in the Tighe-Hamilton Funeral Home, Inc. 50 Central Street, Hudson, MA 01749. Calling hours will be held on Saturday, April 20th from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
