Rex Powell 83, of Hudson, died on Thursday, March 24th at his son's home in Hudson surrounded by his loving family. He leaves his beloved wife of 62 years, Gilda L. (Crivello) Powell of Hudson.
Born in Worth County, Georgia, son of Claude and Alice (James) Powell, he has resided in Hudson for the past 50 years. He joined the U.S. Navy at the age of 17 where he spent 20 years serving his country as a Chief Petty Officer and Radar Specialist aboard several Navy ships. He was a veteran of WWII serving in the Pacific Theater and veteran of the Korean War. He was also involved in the Cuban Missile Blockade of the early 60's. After retiring from the navy, he spent several years with the Raytheon Co. in Wayland and spent many years as a technician with the Honeywell Co. until his retirement in 1982.
Besides his wife, he is survived by his four children, Linda Stanley and her husband Frank of Hudson, Rex Powell Jr. and his wife Clementine of Hudson, Leslie Sadasivan and her husband, Peter Sadasivan M.D. of Strongsville, Ohio and Gail Vuona of Marlboro. He is also survived by his sister, Jane Childree of Georgia; 8 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. He was pre-deceased by his son, Claude Powell and two of his grandchildren.
A funeral service was held on Saturday, March 26th at the Tighe-Hamilton Funeral Home, Inc. 50 Central Street, Hudson, MA 01749. Burial followed in Forestvale Cemetery, Hudson.
