Richard A. "Cappy" Capobianco, known to all as "Cappy" died Sunday, March 22, with his family by his side.
He was 64 and the loving husband of Ruth E. (O'Brien) Capobianco to whom he shared his life with for 42 years. Born in Cambridge, Richard was the devoted son of Dorothy (Perry) and Cosmo Capobianco of Marlborough, and brother to Elaine Walrdron of Marlborough, Geraldine Comerford (deceased), Gerard "Gary" Capobianco of Marlborough and Christopher Capobianco (deceased). Richard is survived by his loving children, Tina Marie D'Asti and her husband Stephen of Bellingham, Christopher Capobianco and his wife Dawn of Hudson, & Kelly Jo Capobianco and Manny Rodrigues of Indianapolis, Indiana. He was also the cherished Nonno of Coda, Jaxon and Gavin Capobianco and Miss Sabrina Rodrigues; Uncle to several nieces and nephews; and friend to anyone lucky enough to have known him. Richard lived in Cambridge as a child, moving to Marlborough when he was in grade school. He was a graduate of Marlborough High School and moved to Hudson to raise his own family. Cappy worked at GM, owned several businesses and was a carpenter and general contractor for over 40 years. It was carpentry that he loved and he took great pride in his work, always willing to share his vast knowledge of the trade with anyone willing to learn. He was involved with the Boy Scouts of America during the time his son was a member, and later in life he taught carpentry at Assabet Valley Regional Vocational High School. Cappy always put others before himself, took care of those he loved, and managed to make everyone laugh along the way. He will be profoundly missed.
A service will be held at Tighe-Hamilton Funeral Home on Wednesday, March 25th @ 10 am. Burial will follow in Forestvale Cemetery, Hudson. Calling hours are Tuesday, March 24th from 5-8PM. Cappy was a big supporter of the American Red Cross, donating several gallons of blood in his lifetime. Making a blood donation or "paying it forward" with an act of kindness would be a great way to honor his memory. Memorial contributions may also be made in Cappy's name to the Hudson Senior Center, 29 Church St., Hudson, MA 01749.
