Richard Ernest Cassidy, 93, of Hudson, Massachusetts, passed away on September 12th, 2018 surrounded by his family after a short illness.
Richard was born in Concord, Massachusetts to Edward and Clara (Graves) Cassidy on January 14th, 1925. Forever a tinkerer, he worked building models for Atkins and Merrill. He served in the Army and was a veteran of World War II, stationed in Italy. He was a member of the Ty Rods (a classic car club).
Richard is preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Clara, three brothers and two sisters and his daughter, Donna.
Richard is survived by his sister, Clara Myette of Concord, his former wife, Jane Cassidy of Arizona, his daughter Diane Stark and husband Richard of Barre, his daughter Sharyn Lister and Robert Howard of Upton, and his son Chris Cassidy of Hudson, 7 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.
Always remembered as a man with endless love and compassion for all, Richard always saw the best of all situations. Growing up as a child during the heart of the Great Depression, he left school to support his family at the age of fourteen. However, this entrance into adulthood at such a young age did not impede his curiosity or ability to learn. He learned how to work on everything mechanical and was always fond of his memories working on automobiles, both in the comfort of his own garage and on the bases of WWII.
Richard took exceptional care of all of his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren through both comfortable and challenging times. He was able to impart his ability to stay positive on his entire family. At all ages, he continued to sing and dance with joy. The world will forever remember Richard as a man who could light up any room and bring happiness to all through his composure and his endless stories.
At the family’s request, in lieu of flowers please donate to your favorite charity.
