Marlborough, MA – Richard E. “Dick” Garfield, 70, passed away with his loving wife by his side Sunday evening, March 6, 2022, at their home after fighting cancer with all that he had. He was born in Marlborough, MA on May 31, 1951, the son of the late Elmond F. and Cecelia T. (Gaucher) Garfield. He was a “snowbird” for last 5 years spending summers in Marlborough and winters in Surprise, AZ, after living in Gilbert and Mesa, AZ and Blackstone and Bellingham, MA for many years. Dick was a fun-loving man full of love, honor and integrity. Everyone who met him loved him instantly. He was extremely passionate about music, played many instruments and was in several bands, but his favorites were the drums and guitar. He had the gift of listening to a song, picking up his guitar or sitting at his drum set and playing it without any written music or instruction. He was our own personal Rockstar. He was a member of Caswell Gun Club in Mesa, AZ and had his concealed carry permit. He loved collecting guns, target practice and teaching his children gun safety and how to shoot. He loved the beach, fishing, kayaking and cruising around in his pontoon boat. He enjoyed spending time with family, especially his children and grandchildren. After graduating from Marlborough High School in 1969, Dick proudly served his country in the U.S. Air Force until he would return to Marlborough with his primary focus on raising his children around his loving extended family.
