Richard B. Jones, 75, of Massachusetts and Panama, passed away on Sunday, October 22, 2023, with his long-term partner, Janet Crowley by his side.
Richard was born in Roanoke, VA, to his parents William and Nellie Ruth (Ridgway) Jones, on March 18, 1948.
In addition to his long-time partner Janet Crowley, Richard also leaves his sons, Lucas Jones and his partner Holly, Nathan Jones and his wife Breanne, and Adam Goddard-Jones; his brother Walter Jones and his wife Perlita; grandson Jaxon Goddard-Jones; his niece Jasmine Jones, and other family members and great friends. He is predeceased by his parents William and Nellie Ruth.
Richard attended undergraduate courses at Boston University, and later earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering from the Rochester Institute of Technology.
Upon his retirement, Richard sailed down to Panama and fell in love with the culture and way of life there. He was highly technical in his ability to conceptualize, build, rewire, and fix just about anything, including, but not limited to, constructing his entire home in Panama. Richard had a thirst for knowledge, and was a voracious reader, maximizing the battery life of his Nook. An avid sports fan, Richard rarely missed a Celtics game, making sure he was rooting them on from wherever he was found on the globe. He was partial to New England sports and even came around as life went on to root for the Red Sox - a big development as he was a Yankees fan since birth.
Janet would like to thank the tireless efforts of the medical staff at Massachusetts General Hospital, White Building, Tenth Floor, for their incredible care given to Richard in these past months, as well as the staff at Wakefield Center who were there to support Richard in his final days.
A private celebration will take place at a later date.
