Richard Lehan “Dickie” King, age 76, of Hudson, formerly of Marlborough, MA, died suddenly at home on Sunday, December 29, 2024. He leaves his loving wife of 52 years Mary-Lee (Forester) King of Hudson, MA.

Dickie was born and raised in Marlborough, MA, son of the late Frank V. King Sr. and Marjorie (Emery) King. He was proceeded in death by his brother Frank V. King Jr. He was a 1966 graduate of Hudson Catholic High School. He played football, basketball and baseball while at Hudson Catholic, where he was a three sport captain. He played on the Northborough State Champion Legion Baseball team. Following high school, he attended Norwich University receiving a Bachelor’s Degree in Science. He was also a member of the Norwich Baseball Team. Following college he was Captain in the Army National Guard until his honorable discharge. He earned his Master’s Degree from Fitchburg State. He was a teacher for 35 years in the Marlborough Public School System, where he made lifetime friendships . He taught 8th grade Science until retiring in 2006. He coached baseball, basketball and football during his teaching career. He was a member of Saint Lukes Episcopal Church in Hudson, MA.

Besides his wife, Dickie leaves his children Logan King and his wife Aleah (Holyoak), Bethany (King) Freitas and her husband Nilton, and Travers King all of Hudson. As well as his grandchildren August and Harlow Freitas, Brantley, Ryder and Clementine King, who he absolutely adored. He attended as many sporting events as possible for his grandchildren, often going to multiple events in a day.

Dickie had many hobbies and interests throughout his life which included walking 3 miles a day from when his children were younger and he pushed them around in a double stroller to pushing his grandchildren around until a decline in health. He was a proud member of “The ROMEO’s”, Retired Old Men Eating Out, which was a monthly gathering of friends. He was a season ticket holder of The Lowell Memorial Boxing Matches for over 30 years. He lovingly chauffeur his wife Mary-Lee around from her hair appointments to social events. 

Relatives and friends are welcome to attend visiting hours Friday, January 3, 2025, from 4 to 7 p.m. at Tighe Hamilton Regional Funeral Home, 50 Central St., Hudson, MA. A funeral service will be held Saturday, January 4, 2025, at 11 a.m. Saint Lukes Episcopal Church, 5 Washington Street, (at the rotary), Hudson, MA. Burial Services will be held at the convenience of the family.

In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Dickie may be made to: Saint Lukes Episcopal Church. 5 Washington Street, Hudson, MA.
