Richard J Mangini, a longtime resident of Hudson, passed away at home on Tuesday morning, December 6, 2011. He was the devoted husband (60 years) of Ruth Ann (Paulino) who passed away in January 2011.

Born in Stoneham, MA on December 19, 1928 to John L and Wilhelmina (Vogel) Mangini, he was educated in Hudson graduating from Hudson High School in 1946.

Richard joined the US Marine Corp in the waning years of WWII and served as a Staff (Buck) Sergeant during the Korean Conflict from 1950 - 1951, when he was honorably discharged. He returned home, married Ruth, and attended Wentworth Institute earning an engineering degree. He enjoyed his work as a tool and die engineer for United Carr Fasteners, developing numerous patents during his tenure there, being based out of Newtonville and Cambridge.

In his younger years, his passion for hunting and fishing brought him to Berry Bay in Freedom, NH where he spent time every year until his passing. He was a lifetime member of the Riverside Rod and Gun Club of Hudson and he was a member of the Hudson Elks Lodge. Richard enjoyed his weekday and weekend visits with family, playing cards, watching the Red Sox and the New England Patriots and discussing current events.

Richard is survived by his devoted children, Joyce E. (Mangini) Terrio and her husband Paul of Norfolk, John D. Mangini and his wife Jane of Milford and Michael P. Mangini and his wife Karen of North Grafton. He is also survived by his adoring grandchildren, Rebecca (Terrio) Tefft and her husband Matthew of Uxbridge, Jessica Terrio of Norfolk, Jennifer Mangini of Newton, Julieanne Mangini of Worcester, Joseph Mangini of Sutton, Ryan Mangini of Milford and Mark Mangini of North Grafton. He also leaves his loving great-granddaughter Samara Grace Tefft of Uxbridge. Richard leaves behind his brother in law, Manual Cardoza of Hudson, his sister-in-law Anne Paulino of Hudson and his sister-in-law and brother-in-law Josephine and Donald Chartier of Bridgewater. He also leaves many cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.

A funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, December 13, at 9:00 am in Saint Michaels Church 21, Manning Street, Hudson. Burial will follow in Forestvale Cemetery, Hudson. Calling hours will be held on Monday, Dec 12 from 5-8 p.m. at the Tighe-Hamilton Funeral Home, Inc. 50 Central Street, Hudson, MA 01749.
