Richard J. Morreale of Hudson passed away peacefully after a short illness surrounded by his loving family. He was 78 years old. He was a resident of Hudson for 41 years. He leaves behind his wife Norma J (Hedrick) Morreale. Also he leaves his daughter Cheryl A (Morreale) Leeber and her husband Carl J Leeber of Hudson, MA. He was the father of the late Brenda C. Morreale who passed away recently (November 23, 2013). He is survived by his grandchildren Victoria Budge and her fiancAC. Nathan of Bangor, ME, Nicole Budge and her fiancAC. Scott of Hermon, ME, and Rebecca Leeber and her significant other, Dylan Chaves of Hudson, MA. He is also survived by grandchildren Rose and Joseph Leeber of Hudson, MA , and his great-grandchildren Aubriana, Zackary and Alex all of Maine. He was preceded in death by a granddaughter Hope A Budge in 1988. He was happily awaiting the arrival of a grandson in the spring of 2014.
He is survived by 3 sisters Ada Byrden of Marlborough, MA, Dorothy Hedrick of Hudson, MA and Charlotte Sasser of MS and 2 brothers, Charles Morreale and his wife Ruth of Hudson, MA and Fred Morreale of Maynard, MA. He was the brother of the late Edward Morreale and his late wife Kay of Waltham, MA. He is also survived by a brother-in-law Edward E Hedrick and his wife Peggy of Marlborough, MA. He also leaves many brother and sister-in-laws and nieces and nephews throughout the United States.
Richard was born in Waltham, MA on August 20, 1935, son of the late Charles and Ada (Ferranti) Morreale. He was raised in Weston and Waltham and moved to Hudson, MA in 1972. He attended trade school in Waltham and worked for Charles Precourt and Sons for 43 years as a stone cutter. He was a longtime member of the Moose Lodge in Marlboro and member of Saint Michael's Parish in Hudson. Richard was an avid gardener and he enjoyed sharing the 'veggies', with family and friends. He enjoyed his daily trips to Honey Dew Donuts in Hudson having coffee and donuts with friends and staff and also with his friends in Sudbury. He enjoyed spending time with family and looked forward to Spaghetti dinners on Wednesdays and family dinners on Sundays. He will be deeply missed by his family and close friends and all that knew and loved him.
A funeral mass will be celebrated on Thursday, Feb. 13th at 9:00 a.m. in Saint Michael's Church, 21 Manning Street, Hudson. Burial will follow in Forestvale Cemetery, Hudson. Family and friends may attend calling hours on Wednesday, Feb. 12th from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Tighe-Hamilton Funeral Home, Inc. 50 Central Street, Hudson, MA 01749.
