Richard S. Rivers, 47, of Hudson, died on Sunday, November 29th at the Lahey Clinic in Burlington. He is survived by his wife, Meridith (Johnson) Rivers of Hudson.
Richard was born in Newton, son of the late William J. and Grace E. (Hopkinson) Rivers and was a lifelong resident of Hudson. He was a 1981 graduate of Hudson High School and was currently employed as an electrician for the Mass. Department of Corrections in Shirley for over 13 years. He was a member and past Commander Soris of the Hudson Amvets; member of the Hudson Eagle's and member of the Hudson VFW Son's Auxiliary. He was an avid Patriot's fan and has held season tickets for 19 years and was also an avid Red Sox fan. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him, especially his family which he enjoyed and cherished their times together.
Besides his wife, he is survived by his siblings, Kenneth Rivers of Tampa, FL, Dana and Joe Rivers, both of Hudson, Sandra Bogdanovich of Chicopee, James Rivers of New Hampshire, William Rivers of Northboro and Carol Rivers of Cape Cod. He is also survived by his five children and eight grandchildren from his extended family and many nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held on Thursday, Dec. 3rd at 12:30 p.m. at the Tighe-Hamilton Funeral Home, 50 Central Street, Hudson, MA 01749. Burial will follow in Forestvale Cemetery, Hudson. Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, Dec. 2nd, from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
