Richard J. Simoes, 83, a lifelong resident of Hudson, MA, died on Wednesday, October 4, 2023 at UMASS Memorial Marlborough Hospital in Marlborough, MA. He was the beloved husband of the late Anne M. (Gill) Simoes who died in 2019.

Richard leaves his son Richard C. Simoes of Hudson, MA and his daughter Julie Robbins and her husband Chris of Berlin, MA. He is also survived by his sister, Carol Borella of Hudson, MA; many nieces and nephews along with other relatives and close friends. He was predeceased by his two brothers, Tony Simoes and Florindo Moura and his three sisters, Diana Cummings, Mabel Preston and Mary Perkins.

Richard was born in Marlborough, MA, son of the late Carlos and Emilia (Luz) Simoes. He was raised in Hudson attending local schools and was a graduate of Hudson High School. Following high school he began a long career as a maintenance technician servicing the production machinery first at the former Telechron Company in Ashland, MA followed by a short time with Ken’s Foods in Southborough, MA and then he spent many years at the Gillette Plant in Andover until retiring at age 65. He was a member of Saint Michael Parish in Hudson, MA.

Both Richard and Anne found their greatest joy spending time at home with family and friends. Richard enjoyed spending time working outside in the yard at their home and in his spare time he looked forward to watching his favorite programs on the television. He will be remembered as a loving husband and father, devoted family man and his warm personality. He will be greatly missed by all who loved and knew him.

Relatives and friends are invited to a period of visitation from 4 to 7pm on Tuesday, October 10, 2023 at Tighe Hamilton Regional Funeral Home, 50 Central St., Hudson, MA. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 am on Wednesday, October 11, 2023 at Saint Michael Parish, 21 Manning St., Hudson, MA; followed by a procession to Forestvale Cemetery in Hudson, MA for Committal Services.
