Rita (Perreault) Sherman, 77, a resident of Marlborough Hills Healthcare Center in Marlborough, died at the Healthcare Center Thursday, October 25, 2007 after a brief illness.
She was the wife of the late Richard D. Sherman who died in Nov. 1990. They were married 45 years.
She was born in Rochester, NH, the only child of the late Samuel and Gertrude (Shaw) Perreault.
She completed her education in the Concord, NH area schools. As an adult she was a longtime resident living in Maynard, Bolton and Marlborough. Rita and her husband Richard enjoyed traveling and cruises. They participated in many area flea markets in Westford, Sturbridge and Grafton. They were active in many local fundraisers, particularly with the Lions Club. They cherished the many lifelong friends whom they met from these activities.
She worked as a school bus driver, transporting many students and student athletic teams from the Bolton schools and Nashoba High School to their sports events for many years. She worked for the Maynard Council on Aging and later became the director for the Council on Aging in Stow and Boxborough. She retired in 1993 for the first time and for the past 12 years she was a well known sales associate at Sears in the Solomon Pond Mall in Marlborough, retiring in 2006 due to her illness.
She became a resident of Marlborough Hills Healthcare Center in 2007 where she became involved in many of the resident activities, especially enjoying the Tuesday Bazaar and quilting bees activities.
She leaves a daughter, Risharda Clark and her husband Michael of Stevens Point, WI; 2 grandsons, Joseph and Jason and a granddaughter Jennifer. She also leaves 2 great grandsons, several nieces and nephews and her beloved cockateel companion of many years, Jiminy, which is in the trusted care of her niece.
A mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday, October 29, 2007 at 10:00 a.m. at the Immaculate Conception Church, 19 Prospect Street, Marlborough, MA. Burial will be in South Cemetery, Bolton. Family and friends may attend calling hours Sunday, October 28, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Tighe-Hamilton Funeral Home, Inc.
