Robert Alexander Bisset

January 1, 1970 — January 1, 1970

Hudson

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Robert Alexander Bisset on Sunday, September 27th, 2020. His final days were spent surrounded by his family in the comfort of their home.

Robert was born April 10th, 1931 to parents Alexander & Virginia Bisset, in Hudson, Massachusetts.

Robert is survived by his wife of 66 years, Shirley Bisset, his granddaughter Hannah Terlizzi & her husband Nicholas Terlizzi, his daughter Carol Bisset, son & daughter-in-law David & Janice Bisset, grandson Justin Bisset & his wife Angela Bisset, and leaves behind many loved family members; son Steven Bisset, sister Barbara Courtemanche, brothers Billy, Mickey, & Johnny Bisset, as well as many grandchildren & great-grandchildren.

His unwavering support of his family was something to be admired by all, and he was the strong presence that held his family together. He was truly the salt of the Earth, the kindest, most thoughtful and reliable person anyone could ever know. His love for traditions & holidays, family meals & celebrations was inspiring, and something that kept him going for many years. He was always the man to show up, no matter the occasion. He always made sure you knew you were cared for, and was genuinely interested in how you were doing, and with such a great memory he never forgot a face or detail. He always offered his help, advice or support. He was the kind of man many aspire to be.

Being of Scottish descent, Bobby often liked talking about his heritage and stories of when he was young. In 1948 after graduation from Hudson High school, Bobby joined the Navy in which he served 4 years during the Korean War. In June 1954, he married his wife Shirley at Saint Michael’s Church in Hudson. After leaving the Navy, he worked for many years at Lapointe’s Drafting company, and was a manager at Borden Metal Fabrications, where his wife Shirley served as his secretary. In his time off, he served as a referee for Hudson Hockey Leagues, where he was fondly known as the “Silver Fox” because of his striking silver hair. He loved hockey, football & baseball, and the way that playing and watching sports games brought everyone together.

As Bobby and Shirley grew older and their kids were grown, some of their fondest memories were those spent “up the beach” at their trailer in Hampton, New Hampshire with their friends & family. Bobby enjoyed a morning swim in the freezing cold Hampton Beach ocean, a walk around the grounds to make sure everything was in order, then relaxing on the porch with a cigar. His other hobbies included hunting, fishing, coin collecting, watching sports and spending time with his wife and their friends at the racetrack or casino.

We will miss his sense of humor, his intelligence and advice, his strong presence and the sense of security he gave to his family. We will miss everything about him. In the midst of our grief, we will keep him close in our minds and hearts, so that he may live on forever.

There will be no calling hours. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9 am on Wednesday, September 30, 2020 at Saint Michael Parish, 21 Manning St.; followed by a procession to Saint Michael Cemetery on Cox St. for interment.
