Robert Karl Blum, 36, of Natick, died unexpectedly on Thursday, Nov. 6th at Marlboro Hospital. He leaves his loving mother, Charlotte (Volkhardt) Blum of Hudson and was the son of the late James L. Blum.
Robert was born in Natick and raised in Needham. He attended Minuteman Vocational Technical High School in Lexington studying the art of welding and graduated in 1996 with full welding credentials suitable to be hired on state projects. He was a member and worked out of the Tunnel Workers Union local 88 for 15 plus years. He spent most of those 15 years working for the Hub Foundation Co. out of Harvard, MA, specializing in drilled shafts. He had a passion for Body Art and enjoyed riding his motorcycle in his spare time.
Besides his mother, Robert leaves his many brothers and close friends with Local 88 and will be greatly missed by his devoted dog and companion, "Rory" whom he loved and cared for.
Family and friends may attend calling hours on Wednesday, Nov. 12th from5:00 to 7:00 p.m. followed by a service and celebration of Robert's life at 7:00 p.m. in the Tighe-Hamilton Funeral Home, Inc. 50 Central Street, Hudson, MA 01749. Burial services will be held privately at the convenience of the family.
Family and friends of Robert encourage that in lieu of flowers, charitable donations in his memory be made. Information for donations will be available through the funeral home on Wednesday.
