Robert A. Chaves, 45, of Port St. Lucie, FL, formerly of Hudson died unexpectedly at his home in Florida. Born in Marlborough, son of the late Anthony J. Chaves and survived by his mother, Juliette (Greeno) Chaves of Baldwinville, formerly of Hudson, Robert was raised in Hudson where he attended local schools and was a 1981 graduate of Hudson H.S. He has resided in Port St. Lucie for the past 17 years. He was a member of the Hudson H.S. baseball team during H.S. and later played in the men's softball league locally where he received many awards and multiple league MVP awards. He was currently employed as a manager for Cabinet Maker's Warehouse in Florida. Bob was an avid sports fan and huge fan of the Red Sox, he enjoyed sport fishing and always cherished times spent with his family.
Besides his mother, he is survived by his 2 brothers, Anthony Chaves and wife Judy of Westboro, Michael Chaves and wife Virginia of Hudson; 7 sisters, Dale Burns and husband Greg of Enfield, CT, Pamela Chaves and friend Patricia Donahue of Granville, NY, Patricia Birchman and husband Bruce of Shoreline, WA, Susan Fischer and husband Raymond of Rutland, Lisa Chaves-Francis and husband David of Ashburnham, Marianne Stout and husband Timothy of Harvest, AL and Cheryl Kelly and husband James of Ashburnham. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews; several great nieces and nephews and his close friends, Elaine Burger, Steve and Robyn McCue and Autumn Short-Martinez, all of Port St. Lucie, FL. He was the brother of the late Joseph T. Chaves.
A funeral service will be celebrated on Monday, Sept. 8 at 11:00 a.m. at the Tighe-Hamilton Funeral Home, Inc. 50 Central St. Hudson, MA 01749. . Burial in Saint Michael's Cemetery will be held at the convenience of the family.
Calling hours will be held on Sunday, Sept. 7 from 3:00 to 6:00 p.m. in the funeral home.
