Robert F. Gill -67, of Berlin, died Thursday, March 13, at home.
Bob was born March 11, 1941 in Marlboro to Ruth (Frado) Turcotte and Francis Turcotte. Samuel Gill, who was a loving and supportive dad, adopted Bob and his sister Ruthann at an early age. Bob's family moved to Hudson in 1952 where they enjoyed life around Tripps Pond and many happy summers visiting relatives in Maine. He attended Hudson schools graduating from Hudson H.S. in 1959.
Bob was devoted to his family and the Boy Scouts of America. He started his scouting experience in 1952 as a scout. He continued as Assistant Scoutmaster then Scoutmaster of Troop 2 in Hudson for over 25 years. He was elected to the Order of the Arrow as a Vigil of Honor member in 1962. He was a recipient of the Wood Badge '74, the (Algonquin Council) District Award of Merit, Citation for Service, Veterans Certificate and Scouters Key in '78 and the Silver Beaver in '88.
He moved to Berlin in 1964 with his wife Frances (DeAngelis) and raised three children there. They were married for 44 years.
Bob and Fran began participating in local Native American Pow-wows in '92 and formed a craft business selling Native inspired clothing and crafts. Beautiful cedar boxes were Bob's specialty.
He was an active member of the United Native American Cultural Center in Devens, MA, and the Worcester Inter-tribal Indian Center in Worcester, MA.
Bob is survived by his wife Frances and three children; Robert W. of Marlboro and his partner Ted Blackler, Nancy J. of Worcester and Richard J. and his wife Stephanie and their children, Cameron, Nathan and Benjamin, all of Shrewsbury. Bob is also survived by his sister Ruthann Warner and brother in law Jim Warner of Hopkinton and three nieces.
Both Robert W. and Richard earned the Eagle rank in Berlin's Troop 1 B.S.A. where Bob served on the troop committee and a merit badge counselor.
A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, March 18, at 12:00 noon at the Tighe-Hamilton Funeral Home, Inc. 50 Central Street, Hudson, MA 01749. Calling hours will be held Monday, March 17, from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. in the funeral home.
