Robert “Bob” F. Kearney, Sr., 76, of Hudson, MA, formerly of Waltham, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, January 8, 2019, at the Reservoir Center in Marlborough, with his beloved wife of 56 years, Joanne H. (Proia) Kearney by his side, after a long battle of declining health.
Bob was born in Waltham, MA on September 21, 1942, the only son of the late Frances (O’Neil) Kearney. He was raised in Watertown, and graduated from Belmont Technical High School. Later after graduation he moved to Hudson, where he resided for 46 years. In 1967 Bob enlisted in the United States National Guard Reserves and served his Nation for six years. Bob was also a Bentley College Alumna, where he earned a bachelor’s degree and subsequently, began a long and successful career as an engineer for the Polaroid Company, retiring after 39 years of faithful service. Bob also worked as a bus monitor for Hudson Public Schools after retiring from Polaroid.
Through his life fitness was always important to Bob, lifting weights, playing sports outdoors, coaching youth soccer and being involved in Cub Scouts in Hudson. Most of all Bob loved spending time with his family, especially his children and grandchildren.
In addition to his beloved wife Joanne H. (Proia) Kearney, Bob also leaves behind his two daughters, Kelly A. Kearney-Johnson and her husband Ted of CA and Cassandra E. Kearney of Hudson, MA; a sister Patricia Hapenney and her husband James of Burlington, MA and six grandchildren, Amanda, Hannah, Nicholas, Hayden Kearney and Travis and Colton Johnson. Bob was predeceased by his mother and his son, Robert F. Kearney, Jr.
Relatives and friends are invited to a period of visitation from 4 pm until 8 pm on Sunday, January 13, 2019, at TIGHE HAMILTON REGIONAL FUNERAL HOME, 50 Central St., Hudson, MA. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9 am on Monday, January 14, 2019, at Saint Michael Parish, 21 Manning St. Hudson, MA 01749; followed by entombment in Calvary Mausoleum at 250 High St., Waltham, MA.
