Robert Thomas O’Leary of Chatham, MA, formerly of Needham, passed away in his Naples, FL home just three days before his 90th birthday on Sunday, February 25, 2018. He was the beloved husband of Mary Jane (Logan) O’Leary for 60 years. He was the son John D. and Mary C. (Hennessy) O’Leary of Brookline, MA. Loving and caring father of Jayne (Alan) Malonson, JoAnne O’Leary and partner James Hickey, Robert G. (Lisa) O’Leary, Elaine (late Thomas) Norton and partner Leonard Hague and Charles (Stacy) O’Leary. Grampy for Michael, Marie, Stephanie, Kelley, Melissa, James, Sean, Logan, Kevin, Madison and Colin and Great Grampy to Liam.
A graduate of Brookline High School, a World War II Navy Veteran and a retired Captain of the Brookline Fire Department of 32 years.
Survived by his brothers John F. of Needham, Paul R. of Chappaquiddick and George J. of Brookline and the late Marie Riordan of Brookline. He is also survived by many loving nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
Visitation will be held from 4:00 – 7:00 pm on Wednesday, February 28, 2018, at TIGHE HAMILTON REGIONAL FUNERAL HOME, 50 Central St., Hudson, MA and the following day on Thursday, March 1, 2018 from 10:30 – 11:15 am at Saint Joseph’s Catholic Church, 1360 Highland Ave, Needham, MA 02492; immediately followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:30 am at Saint Joseph’s Catholic Church with a procession to Saint Mary’s Cemetery in Needham for final committal prayers and United States Navy Military Honors.
