Robert F. Redden Jr., 72, of Hudson, formerly of Waltham, died Thursday, May 1 at Marlboro Hospital.
Born in Newton, son of the late Robert F. Sr. and Elizabeth (Buckley) Redden, Mr. Redden was raised in Waltham where he attended local schools. He was a veteran of the Korean War, serving in the U.S. Army. He has resided in Hudson for the past 40 years and was employed as a truck driver by the former Blue Jay Transportation Co. of Hudson for 25 years. He was currently employed by Rinchem Company, Inc. of Marlboro who purchased Blue Jay Transportation in 2006. He was a member of the Local 25 Teamsters Union in Boston, a life member of the Hudson Lodge of Elks and member of the Sons of Italy in Waltham.
He is survived by his children, Bobby J. Redden of Northboro, Paula A. Redden of Salem and Ricky Bigley of Hudson. He is also survived by his sister, Mary Eccles of Waltham; 3 grandchildren, Nicholas Doucet, Nate and Nicole Bigley; his former wife of 17 years, Patricia (Slaman) Rego of Cape Cod and Florida and several nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Hugh Redden.
A funeral service will be held Monday, May 5, at 11:00 a.m. at the Tighe-Hamilton Funeral Home Inc. 50 Central St. Hudson. Burial with Military Honors will follow in Forestvale Cemetery, Hudson. Calling hours will be held Sunday, May 4 from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. in the funeral home. The Hudson Elks will conduct their ritual at 4:00 p.m. Sunday afternoon.
