Robert R. Sousa

Robert R. Sousa, 97, of Hudson, MA, passed away peacefully at his home on Saturday, August 3, 2024. He was the beloved husband of the late Frances (Meschini) Sousa, also of Hudson, MA.

Robert was born one of 13 siblings in Marlborough, MA, on March 21, 1927, to parents Joseph Sousa and Rose (Cabral). A lifelong resident of Hudson, MA, Robert graduated from Hudson High School. Out of high school, Robert enlisted to serve with the United States Navy, with whom he served overseas during World War II.

Robert is survived by his daughter Taverly J. Sousa and her partner Kimberly Daly of Brookline, MA; his sister Helen Lawrence of Fairfax, VA; his step-son Shawn Harrington and his wife Edna of Keene, NH; his step-granddaughter Laura Cole of Stafford Springs, CT; as well as other relatives and friends. He is predeceased by his beloved wife Frances; his parents Joseph and Rose; eleven of his siblings; and step-son Brian Harrington.

Throughout his working life, Robert held positions for several local companies as a draftsman. He began at La Pointes, then moved on to Digital Equipment Corporation, and later Data General. Outside of his work, Robert loved his vegetable garden, and taking trips with his late wife, Frances.

Calling Hours for Robert on Wednesday, August 14, 2024, from 10am-12pm, at Tighe Hamilton Regional Funeral Home, 50 Central Street, Hudson, MA. A Funeral Service will be held immediately following Calling Hours on Wednesday, August 14, 2024, at 12pm, at Tighe Hamilton Regional Funeral Home; followed by a procession to Saint Michael Cemetery, 278 Cox Street, Hudson, MA, for Committal Services.
