Robert J. Vierkant, 85, of Berlin, former long time resident of Stow, died on Monday, Sept. 16th at Beaumont Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation in Northboro surrounded by his loving family. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Marguerite M. (Morrison) Vierkant of Berlin.
Robert was born and raised in Boston, son of the late John and Mary (Higgins) Vierkant. He was a Korean War Veteran, serving in the U.S. Army until being honorably discharged in 1952. He was employed by Boston Edison in Waltham for many years until his retirement in 1990. He was a member of Saint Joseph's the Good Provider Parish in Berlin. Robert cherished the time he spent with his family, especially with his loving grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Besides his wife, he is survived by his six children, Robert K. Vierkant and his wife Hye Cha of Virginia, Lauren Flores and her husband Pablo of Marlboro, Valerie Tortora and her husband Jay of Oxford, Kurt Vierkant and his wife Linda of Stow, James Vierkant and his wife Mellisa of Auburn and Johanna Morse and her husband Scott of Stow. He is also survived by his 16 loving grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Elizabeth O'Shea of Dorchester.
A funeral mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, Sept. 18th at 10:00 a.m. in Saint Joseph's the Good Provider Church, 52 West Street, (RT. 62) Berlin. Burial services will follow in Brookside Cemetery, Stow. There are no calling hours.
