As the daughter of a Naval Officer during WWII she was raised primarily by her maternal grandparents Mary & Edward McKenney in South Lancaster, MA. with her brother Bill.

Rose Marie spent the majority of her professional career at Atlantic Union College in South Lancaster where she started as a switchboard operator in 1976 and eventually retired in the Office for Advancement in 2010. She loved her time there where she touched countless lives with her helpful, kind nature, often acting as the defacto greeter in the rotunda at Haskell Hall.

She was an avid reader and could consume a novel from any of her favorite writers in mere days, and even faster if it had a juicy plot twist and she was on a beach by the ocean, her favorite place to be.

One of her favorite hobbies was doing family lineage, she worked countless hours over several decades with her brother Bill and her uncles, tracing back their family tree into the 1500’s on the Delano side of the family. Being a second-generation immigrant on her father’s side, she really wanted to know where her roots began. She also never missed a chance to mention she was cousins with FDR if the family tree topic came up.

Another of her favorite activities was getting together with the Ladies in the “Red Hat Society” where she was affectionately known as Princess Belle. She was, after all, a social butterfly who was always connected to the goings on in South Lancaster.

She loved to travel with her family (Grandchildren) and always looked forward to trips with her “Sandbox Friends” Usually to the beach at The Cape or Maine, and even on Martha’s Vineyard a few times.

She will be truly missed by all who knew her. May she rest in Peace until the Lord comes again to bring home his good and faithful servants.

In accordance with her wishes the graveside service will be held privately. Tighe Hamilton Regional Funeral Home, 50 Central Street, Hudson, MA is honored to be assisting the family with arrangements. A Memorial Service will be held at a later date.

In Lieu of flowers, donations in her honor can be made to the: South Lancaster Academy Scholarship Fund.
