Rui Nelson Silva, 46, of Clinton and formerly a long time resident of Hudson, died unexpectedly at his residence on Thursday, Oct. 14th. He is survived by his son, Matthew Silva of New Hampshire; his brother, Emanuel Silva of Lancaster; his father, Aguiar Silva and step mother Maria; his step sisters, Margaret Medeiros and Debra Viveiros all of Toronto, Canada and his many cousins, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and friends.
Rui was born on December 8, 1963 in Santa Maria, the Azores of Portugal, son of Aguiar Silva and the late Angelina Resendes Andrade. He moved to Hudson from Santa Maria in 1969 attending local schools and was a graduate of Hudson High School. He was currently employed as an iron worker by Frias Concrete Floors, Inc. of Hudson for many years and also worked for Hudson Lock, Kane Perkins of Hudson and was self employed for some time.
Rui was a fun loving guy with a good sense of humor, who loved to laugh and make others laugh, listen to sports and talk to people. Rui was loyal and always giving of himself to his friends and colleagues. His son Matthew was the joy of his life.
A funeral mass will be celebrated on Thursday, Oct. 21st at 9:00 a.m. in Saint Michael's Church, 21 Manning Street, Hudson. Burial will follow in Saint Michael's Cemetery, Hudson. Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, Oct. 20thfrom 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Tighe-Hamilton Funeral Home, Inc. 50 Central Street, Hudson, MA 01749.
