Ruth H. Kelly

Ruth H. (LaPlante) Kelly, 88, of Worcester, MA, formerly of West Northfield, MA, died on Saturday, February 8, 2025, at the Beaumont Rehabilitation and Skilled Nursing Center in Westborough.

Ruth was born in West Northfield, MA, daughter of the late Harold L. LaPlante and Faith Nora (Buffum) LaPlante, both of Northfield, MA. She was raised in West Northfield, attending local schools and graduating from Northfield High School in 1954. She was briefly a schoolteacher for Freeland Street School in Worcester and later was a manager for Allstate Insurance Company, where she worked for about 30 years before her retirement many years ago.

Ruth leaves behind her two sons, James R. Ingram and his wife Karen of Cape Cod, and Mark S. Ingram and Nga Do of Worcester, along with many grandchildren and great grandchildren. She is predeceased by her two brothers, Herbert LaPlante Rogene and Lorin LaPlante, and her three sisters, Mary Howe, Frances LaPlante, and Donna Smith.

Ruth enjoyed staying busy. She was a member of Toastmasters and enjoyed going to theaters. Ruth was an avid Scrabble player. She also enjoyed travelling both locally and abroad whenever she could. Ruth married her first husband Herbert Ingram after high school and was with him for about 10 years. In 1982, Ruth met John P. Kelly at a Toastmasters Club. She married her late husband John in 1992, after being friends for 10 years, and then spent 17 great years with him before his passing in 2009. Ruth will be sorely missed but never forgotten by those who loved and knew her.

Visiting hours will be held on Saturday, February 15, 2025, from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at the Tighe Hamilton Regional Funeral Home, 50 Central Street, Hudson, MA 01749. A funeral service will follow on the same day at 11:00 a.m. A private burial will be held at the convenience of the family sometime in the spring.
