Ruth E. (Orpin) Spilva, 93, of Hudson, formerly of Waltham and Plymouth, died on Monday, Jan. 18th at Marlborough Hills Healthcare Center. She was the wife of the late Wilmot Spilva for 34 years who died in 1969.
Ruth was born and raised in Waltham, daughter of the late Edward and Rebecca (Savin) Orpin and was a graduate of Waltham High School. She has resided in Hudson the past 30 years. Ruth was employed as a cashier for many years at the former Waltham Supermarket in Waltham and also worked as a cashier for Purity Supreme Supermarket in Natick. She was an avid Red Sox and N.E. Patriots fan and enjoyed crocheting in her spare time.
She is survived by her children, Jane Eldredge and her husband Warner of Hudson, Elizabeth Stukonis and her husband Joseph of Marlboro and Wilmot Spilva and his wife Ellen of Shrewsbury. She is also survived by her many Grandchildren, Great Grandchildren, one Great-Great Grandchild, many loving nieces and nephews and the many friends she loved and cherished dearly. She was predeceased by her granddaughter Cheryl Stukonis and great grandson Craig Goulet Jr.
A funeral service will be held on Friday Jan. 22nd at 10:00 a.m. at the Tighe-Hamilton Funeral Home, Inc. 50 Central Street, Hudson, MA 01749. Burial will follow in Mt. Feake Cemetery, Waltham. Calling hours will be held on Thursday, Jan. 21st from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. in the funeral home.
