Sam L. Larson, 72, of Hudson, died Wednesday, June 9th at his residence surrounded by his loving family. He leaves his wife of 51 years, Deloris (Studlien) Larson of Hudson.
Sam was born in Blanchard, ND, son of the late Martin and Myrtle (Stockmoe) Larson and has resided in Hudson the past 37 years. Prior to Hudson he resided in Stow for 13 years when he moved from Mayville, ND in 1960. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1956 to 1958 when he was honorably discharged. Sam was a carpenter by trade and owned and operated Larson Construction Co. in Hudson for many years with his sons. He was a former Stow Youth Baseball coach. In his spare time, Sam enjoyed camping with family and friends and was an avid gardener, he simply loved being outdoors and all the activities that go with it. He was a member of the Hudson Eagle's, Hudson Amvets and a devoted member of the Mount Calvary Lutheran Church of Acton.
Besides his wife, he is survived by his three children, Kevin Larson of Hudson, Darryl Larson and his wife Maureen of Marlboro and Annette Fowle and her husband Doug of Hudson. He is also survived by his four sisters, Janice White of California, Sandy McNett of Washington State, Phyllis Dakken of North Dakota, Marion Richards of Arizona; his nine grandchildren, Tiffany, Kevin Jr. Shari, Michael, Olivia and Abigail Larson, Krystal, Nicholas and Colbie Fowle; four great grandchildren and his many nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Glenn and Carl Larson and Joanne Pickens.
A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, June 16th at 10:00 a.m. at the Mount Calvary Lutheran Church, 472 Massachusetts Ave. in Acton. Burial will follow in Brookside Cemetery, Stow. Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, June 15th from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. at the: Tighe-Hamilton Funeral Home, Inc. 50 Central Street, Hudson, MA 01749.
In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Sam may be made to: Mount Calvary Lutheran Church, 472 Massachusetts Ave., Acton, MA 01720.
