Sandra A. Scanlon, 84, of Hudson, MA, passed away on Wednesday, October 21, 2020, after a period of declining health. She was married to her beloved husband of 60 years, Joseph F. Scanlon, Jr. who passed away earlier this year.
Sandra was born in Boston, MA, on January 8, 1936, one of five children, of the late Horatio J. and Claire L. (Sullivan) Nelson. She was raised in Winthrop, MA, where she graduated from High School and then attended secretarial school. Sandra married the love of her life Joseph Scanlon on January 9, 1960 and together they lived in Winthrop, MA for the first 4 years and later settled in Hudson, MA in 1964, where they resided for 55 years. Sandra worked at Northeast Airlines for several years before getting married. After having her children, she spent the majority of her career in Human Resources working at Digital Equipment Corporation.
During her 55 years in Hudson, Sandra was a longtime member of Saint Michael Parish and Sweet Adelines. She sang in the DEC Big Band, was an avid Red Sox fan and enjoyed spending time with her family, as well as at the ocean.
Sandra was survived by her 5 children, Matthew J. Scanlon of Watertown, Sean J. Scanlon of Leominster, Michael J. Scanlon and his wife Christine of Lancaster, Timothy J. Scanlon and his wife Anne of Orangevale, CA and Julie S. Curtis and her husband Richard T. (Ret CWO4 U.S. Coast Guard) of Lithia, FL; 5 grandchildren, Derek Scanlon, Ariel Smith and her husband Curtis, Sydney Scanlon, Mitchell Scanlon and Joseph M. Scanlon and many nieces and nephews. She was also predeceased by her siblings, Horatio Nelson, Reuben Nelson, Judith Clauss and Bruce Nelson.
There are no calling hours. Services and a Celebration of Life will be held at a later time.
