Sarah E. (Thurston) McSwain, 100, of Hudson, formerly of Watertown and Waltham, died on Wednesday, Dec. 18th at The Reservoir Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Marlboro.
Sarah was born in Boston, daughter of the late Arthur and Mary (Wallace) Thurston. She was raised in Waltham where she attended local schools and later received her Teaching Certificate. She had several occupations throughout her life but her passion was being a teacher. She spent many years in Watertown before settling in Hudson in 1980. Sarah enjoyed reading and oil painting in her spare time but most of all looked forward to spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Her hobby was traveling and she visited many worldwide destinations in her younger years. She was a member and former receptionist at the Hudson Senior Center.
She is survived by her daughter, Beth Livoli and her husband Ronald of Hudson; her brother, Arthur Thurston of Waltham; her three grandchildren, Joanne Livoli-Hogan of Hudson, Matthew Livoli of Lowell, Amanda Gould of Hudson; her six great grandchildren, Nicole, Isabella, Haley, Emily, Christian and Logan and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her two grandchildren, Christine Livoli in 1991, Guido Paul Livoli in 1971 and was the sister of the late Anne Miller, Lillian Butters, Gay Casello, Georgia Mosnicka, Carol Baduski and Sydney Thurston.
Family and friends are invited to celebrate Sarah's life at a time of visitation on Monday, Dec. 23rd from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Tighe-Hamilton Funeral Home, Inc. 50 Central Street, Hudson, MA 01749 (www.tighehamilton.com). Services and burial will be held privately at the convenience of the family in Saint Michael's Cemetery, Hudson.
