Sheila Kennally Attaway was born on September 11, 1944, at Newton Wellesley Hospital in Newton, MA. She was raised in Sudbury, MA, and graduated from Lincoln-Sudbury Regional High School in 1962. She attended The College of San Mateo in California in 1963. She retired from Hewlett Packard (Digital) after 31 dedicated years. She passed away on September 8th, 2021, at Emerson Hospital in Concord, MA.
Sheila, known by many as, “She-She”, or “Mema”, cherished her summers on Cape Cod, reading, spending time with her family, watching her grandkids play sports, and meeting up with her friends to spill the tea.
She was the life of the party, her smile lit up the room immediately, and her laugh was infectious. One of the strongest women we have known, her advice to others was to “pull yourself up by the bootstraps!”.
Sheila was predeceased by her parents, Paul “Binky” Kennally , and Evelyn Johnston Kennally, her sister, Wilene “Billie” Glynn, her brothers Paul Kennally Jr, Michael Kennally, son Francis Grover “Tommy” Thompson IV, and the love of her life, her whole heart, and beloved husband, with whom she was married for 33 years, James Newman Attaway.
She is survived by her siblings, Jack (& Pat) Kennally of Pinehurst, NC, Stephen Kennally of Mesquite, NV, Patti (&Mike) Lewis of Chapel Hill, NC, Kerri (&John) DeJesus of Jupiter, FL, several nieces, nephews and extended family, her children, Scott Thompson and long time partner, Karen Bunton of Shrewsbury, MA, & their children- Emma, Ryan, & Sean; Peter Thompson & his wife, Nanette (Townsend) of Marietta, GA, & their children -Jackson, James & Chelsea; Jami (Attaway) Thompson & husband Mike of De Pere, WI, & their children, Sam & Kennally; Zachary Attaway & wife Carrie (Murphy) of Hudson, MA, & their children, Jake, Taylor, Morgan, & Max; Lindsay Attaway & partner Rick Gray of Hudson MA, & their children- Luke, Mack, Vance, Will & Aurora; Bryant Attaway & his wife, Rachel (Bernier) of Hudson, MA, and their children, James, & Henry.
Visiting Hours will be held on Thursday, September 16th, from 4:00 -7:00 pm, at Tighe Hamilton Regional Funeral Home, 50 Central St, Hudson, MA 01749. All are invited to join Sheila's family following the visiting hours at the Hudson Lodge of Elks, "Pavilion Area" 99 Park Street, Hudson from 7:00 to 10:00pm. Donations can be made to the American Heart Association in lieu of flowers.
